My name is Dan Lorentz, and I live in Athens, Ga.—in the Boulevard neighborhood—with my wife and dog. We moved here in May 2008 from Lexington, Ky. where we lived for nearly six years. Before that we lived in Madison and Milwaukee, Wis.
For about a decade, I worked as an aide to state legislators in Wisconsin. I've also worked in the non-profit sector on poverty and public health issues. I have a master's degree in public administration from the University of Kentucky. Now, I suppose you could say I’m an aspiring freelance writer.
I started this blog as a way to learn about and connect with my new hometown, and to keep myself in touch with issues I care about, such as walkability, anti-poverty policy, local media, city planning and infrastructure.
